On the home front, South Bay libraries can't keep up with the demand for Manga, so Torrance is spending $10,000 to top off the stacks.
With children and adults alike discovering the appeal of saucer-eyed characters, the materials have been flying off the library's shelves, said library service director Norman Reeder. "They are usually checked out all the time and then it looks like we have none."
That is about to change.
Torrance has just approved use of a $10,000 Friends of the Torrance Library grant to purchase a collection of Japanese anime and graphic novels.
Personally, we think the little bastards should just go to the comic shop - that's what allowance is for.

There does come a time in even the most bookish parents' life when it is nice to have the playstation and the computer OFF, though. (Bought my son Neuromancer the other night. Brag, brag, brag.)
