We have, for the most part, not really jumped onto the YouTube bandwagon (who's got the time?) but we're excited enough to make this exception. FSG has released its first-ever "video trailer" to promote Gregoire Bouillier's The Mystery Guest (see yesterday's reading post). Go check it out, marvel at the way book marketing is evolving, and then pick up the book, which we've almost finished and would recommend if only we could stop laughing long enough ... "Mordantly funny" is one of those overworked reviewer cliches but it sure fits.
French literary sensation Gregouire Bouillier's first book, Rapport sur moi, received the 2002 Prix de Flore. THE MYSTERY GUEST is his second book. Lorin Stein, acquiring editor and translator of THE MYSTERY GUEST, also came up with the concept for the trailer. David Teague has shot and edited music films for David Bowie, kd lang, and Laurie Anderson. His work has screened at Cannes, the Berlin Film Festival, and the Tribeca Film Festival, among others. He also runs Flicker NYC, a film festival dedicated to showcasing new Super-8 and 16mm films. More of his work can be seen at www.teaguefilms.com.
