Joshua Henkin: Return of the Prolix Guest Blogger!
I'm back, cleared of all steroid charges, but still with the stain on my reputation. It's been nearly a year since Mark skipped town and left me drunk at the helm to commit 26 guest posts on TEV. Those were heady times, so I hope you won't think I'm being ungrateful when I say that it all started to get a little, well, confining. What happened to trying to get attention for my book? All anyone wanted to talk about was guest blogging. I'd be walking along the streets of Brooklyn, and the stares would start, then the whispers. There he is! The crazy guest blogger!" I'd be at a party and, next to the pretzels and the keg of beer, someone would approach me and say, "Is it really you?"
"Yo!" the guy would call to his friend. "Check this out! It's the Mark-Sarvas-Doppelganging-guest-blogging-machine!" And the D.J. would shut off the music and people would demand a repeat performance. "Guest blog!" they shouted. "Guest blog! Guest blog! Guest blog! Guest blog!" I started getting calls to do parties. It got so bad my wife and kids took to calling me GB.
So when Mark approached me in a moment of weakness and asked if, with the paperback of Matrimony just out, I was up for round two, I should have declined. Really, I need to spend more time with my family. But I've never been one to know what's good for me, and apparently Mark isn't either: realizing his error, he promptly booked the next flight to Australia/New Zealand and hasn't been heard from since.
Contrary to rumor, I am not (I repeat, NOT) the father of Bristol Palin's love child, nor am I going to break last year's world guest-blogging record of 26 posts. But, alas, I won't be far off. For the mathematcially inclined among you, the ratio of this year's guest posts to last year's guest posts far exceeds the ratio of the paperback price of MATRIMONY to the hardback price of MATRIMONY. So, without further delay, let's start a new day of posts on writers, writing, and the writing life. I hope you'll comment early and often. And next year, please join me at the hotdog eating contest in front of Nathan's on Coney Island. Let the games begin!

Do you have the link to your guest posts from last year? I'd like to see that.
