I'm off in a few hours to the Southern California Independent Booksellers Association awards dinner, where Harry, Revised is a finalist for the Fiction award. (Personally, I think the win will go to Marisa Silver for her excellent The God of War. No false modesty here, that's my real take - we'll see what kind of handicapper I am.) Amusingly enough, I sat next to someone at the airport yesterday reading David Benioff's City of Thieves, also nominated. I asked her what she thought of it. "Very male," she adjudged, but seemed to quite like it. An omen, perhaps, but an inscrutable one. Will let you know in a few hours how it all turns out ...
UPDATE: Well, we called Netherland's Booker wrong, and we called this one wrong, too - Congratulations to winner Benioff.

Good luck! I've been plowing through those first novel books you recommended several weeks ago, but Harry is on my shelf.

I called the Booker wrong too, losing money on Hensher, but then so did most people.
