007 is one of our guilty pleasures, so imagine our surprise to learn that Pierce Brosnan appears to have ended his tenure.

In his recent TEV guest review of Home Land, Jim Ruland called Sam Lipsyte the "funniest writer of his generation," and we're quite inclined to agree. We tore through Home Land in two joyful sittings and can't remember the last time we've laughed so hard. Lipsyte's constellation of oddly sympathetic losers is rendered with a sparkling, inspired prose style that's sent us off in search of all his prior work. In Lewis Miner's (a.k.a Teabag) woeful epistolary dispatches to his high school alumni newsletter ("I did not pan out."), we find an anti-hero for the age. Highly, highly recommended.
Bring on Clive Owen, baby. Just the shot in the arm the franchise needs. Though I say that with every movie, alas....

Clearly, you're not the only one:

And now that Croupier is finally coming out on DVD, we can just shove it in people's faces when people ask, "Who's Clive Owen?"
Although, really, I thought he was one of the few good things in The Bourne Identity v2.0, very effective in the extremely small spy part they gave him to do. That kind of cold efficiency would make him a great Commander Bond...

Unpardonable to have Lazenby in that photo while leaving out Barry Nelson. And Owen would make a great Bond. Now if only they could get the title songs and opening sequences right, and find a reliable bad guy (besides these former KGB operative types they keep resorting to), then we're all set.
