In his recent TEV guest review of Home Land, Jim Ruland called Sam Lipsyte the "funniest writer of his generation," and we're quite inclined to agree. We tore through Home Land in two joyful sittings and can't remember the last time we've laughed so hard. Lipsyte's constellation of oddly sympathetic losers is rendered with a sparkling, inspired prose style that's sent us off in search of all his prior work. In Lewis Miner's (a.k.a Teabag) woeful epistolary dispatches to his high school alumni newsletter ("I did not pan out."), we find an anti-hero for the age. Highly, highly recommended.
I have prefered and watched the today show since I was a child. After today, inaguation day, I vow to never , ever watch the program again. I am cutting off all nbc news programs from my veiwing venue. No mater democrat or republican, the way in which Couric and Lauer have made their many attempts ofthis most historic and celebratory day is horendous. In the field of journalism is heinous and unforgivable. I turned to abc and found the well known anchors for good morning America, treating it with respect, full coverage, light heartedness, and with the proper attention and monalogue that this day in our history 2005 deserves. Double, Trible raspberries to you Catie and Matt. And may the spirit of Rush Limbaugh haunt you in your sleep.
