The weekend is upon us and we're in heavy road bike buying mode (about which more next week), so we're offering up the morning links and then skulking off - with only Banville clutched under arm - to commence the weekend frivolity.
* Science fiction author Andre Norton has died.
* Here's an interesting look at the blog of Penn State literature profressor Michael Bérubé, whose site is a TEV feedereader staple.
* The new maisonneuve is online.
* Adam Fawer's Improbable is cited by USA Today as a potential Da Vinci Code '05, a mixed blessing to be sure ...
* Reuters covers the goings on at Random House.
* In the comment section of the Guardian, Hywel Williams posits - apropos the recent news that Sartre just barely made a French list of top 100 intellectuals - that Paris is a "beautiful tomb for a dead culture." (He fires off a shot at Bernard Henri-Levy, who is the subject of a new biography reviewed this week in TLS.)
* And finally, writers name their favorite literary villains. Who are yours? (We're quite partial to Claire Quilty.)
My favorite literary villain would have to be Steerpike , who became even more fascinating, sympathetic, repulsive, and let's say it: hot, when portrayed by Jonathan Rhys-Myers. Mmhm.

I've always loved M'Lady of the Three Musketeers fame. I like the wicked wenches...
