We're just back from the Swink/Vermin reading and totally exhausted but we have enough juice left for this quick check in before turning in ...
We're pleased to say the reading was a smashing success ... an evening full of great readers ... We didn't bring our camera this time but photos have been promised to us ... In the meantime we can say that it was an evening full of highlights, including the chance to get a sneak preview of Laila's collection ... Ben Ehrenreich's story was a real pleasure (available in the current Swink) but, in truth, there were many to be had ... Folks even seemed to like our offering, laughing more or less where they were supposed to ... and we can report that Steve Almond's reading did nothing to alter our opinion of him ...
As you can probably tell on the previous post, our trusty satelite connection died on us before we could conclude all our live blogging at the Swink/Vermin booth ... but we did head on over and get to chat briefly with Mitch Cullin before calling it an afternoon ... We also got to talk to Susan Salter Reynolds who - previously unaware of our existence - pronounced herself "terrified" at the thought of being graded here every week ... (Her Discoveries column in the LATBR is one of the few weekly highlights.)
We'll attend a few panels tomorrow but the highlight will be the morning panel on - what else - the LATBR ... We'll might even make one final attempt to live blog that one ... and once the festival wraps up, we're headed to - we can scarcely believe we're saying this - Arianna Huffington's place. More on that is sure to follow. And we hope to recap some of the panel highlights for you tomorrow ...
Tired. Up at 6:30 tomorrow for a bike ride. Going to sleep.
