Months in the making, we're pleased to pull back the curtain on the Litblog Co-op.
What is it? Why should you care? What's in it for me? Excellent questions, all. The quickest way to answer is to visit the site, where you'll find nearly 20 of your favorite literary bloggers working in a communal, cooperative fashion. Four times a year we will select an overlooked literary title and work to bring it to your attention both via our own sites and through the central site.
Can bloggers make the slightest difference in influencing book buyers? We think so. But we'll leave the last word to Sam Lipsyte, who recently felt the influence of blogs firsthand, and who recently told us via email that:
"The power of lit blogs is both collective and singular. They should join forces to battle the pimps of the stale, sure, but they need to remember the eternal draw, too: a cranky individual with smart idiosyncratic tastes and a good bullshit detector. I'm thrilled they are out there and, for the most part, kicking ass."
Words to fuckin' live by. Check in regularly to see what we come up with.
Very interesting idea - pulling you all into one place. I look forward to your selections and the discussion of them and the literary landscape in general.
Enjoy,

One cavil. You're listed over there as Elegant Variation. That has a very different meaning to my ear than The Elegant Variation. It loses some of its esoteric irony. I'd fight for the "the."

What a great endeavour. I'm looking forward to watching this unfold, if only to come across another Sam Lipsyte next month. Nicely done, folks.

Where do I send the bouquet?
Now, "How many literary geniuses/devotees does it take to change the verb/noun under which names what they do/produce , to a word more, uh, pleasant to the ear?"
Anyway, cool.
