The always excellent L.A. Observed continues to break news about the LA Times. Their latest is this reproduction of the internal memo announcing the end of the Times' ridiculous registration wall ...
Unlike the departure of Steve Wasserman, this news actually does give us pause with respect to the future of our LATBR Thumbnails, which were conceived to give you all an idea of what you were missing behind the firewall. Should the Thumbnails continue? Do they now serve any useful purpose? (Did they ever serve any useful purpose?)
Do drop us a line. We're mildly indecisive and would love to know your thoughts ...
While I did find them useful, I don't think they will be necessary once anyone can log on.

I'd like you to keep doing them at least until such time as they do one of three things:
1. Give my next book a terrible review and you come to my defense.
2. Give my next book a great review and you hail the Times for finally getting one right.
3. They ignore my next book totally and you rise up like the Phoenix, setting all of LA on fire in your wake.
Plus, on a less Goldbergian note, I think you need to continue grading them until they don't need a grade anymore. (Which, uh, might be when #2 happens.)

Go get 'em Tod. Maybe you should expand the thumbnails into a free-for-all, Mark.

Tod, I've just come from yours. Where the fuck do you find this stuff? You're the only person I've ever met whose megalomania is entertaining. Endearing, even, maybe.
Mark, how about a stripped-down version, highlights and final grade only?
