On Thursday May 12, 826LA presents Anna Deavere Smith in conversation with Arianna Huffington. The discussion will take place at 7:30pm in the 826LA space located in the SPARC Building. Anna Deavere Smith, playwright, actress, winner of the 1996 MacArthur Foundation and NYU professor is best known for her award-winning plays Fires in the Mirror and Twilight: Los Angeles which address issues of race and community in America by depicting multiple characters with diverse points of view. (TEV Note: Actually, she's probably best known for playing that kickass military advisor on the West Wing but she probably wouldn't appreciate that ... )Arianna Huffington is a nationally syndicated columnist and author of ten books. In 2003 she ran for governor as an Independent in California’s recall election. Her latest book is Fanatics and Fools: The Game Plan for Winning Back America.
