Well, it's a week for Authors We Revile in the City of Angels but we are a public service blog, and so we share the details of two readings at which we would not be caught dead:
Bret Easton Ellis reads from his latest crimes against the language this Saturday, August 27, 7:30 p.m. at Skylight Books.
And the relentlessly annoying Chuck Klosterman - whose thoughts on music are enough to make us hate rock - gives you not one but three opportunities to hiss him in the flesh: He's at Borders Westwood, Thursday evening at 7 p.m.; at Skylight on Friday; and at Vroman's on Saturday. Can we think of anything more depressing than a Saturday night with Chuck Klosterman? God, we hope not.
UPDATE: If you're unfamiliar with Klosterman, well, count yourself lucky. Energetic Ed explains exactly what you're missing.
There's one thing more depressing than an evening with him and that's reading his new book, "Killing Yourself to Live," which is truly a vile piece of nonsense.

Also, if anyone in LA seriously attends this reading, they may want to ask Klosterman about this passage: "I'm shocked by anyone who doesn't consider Los Angeles to be anything less than a bozo-saturated hellhole. It is pretty much without question the worst city in America."
