Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of the Watts Riots, and if you missed it, the Guardian (of all places) runs a thoughtful look at then and now. You might also have missed Karen Grigsby Bates' fine NPR report in which she went with Karl Fleming - whose memoir Son of the Rough South has gotten a lot of coverage of late - back to the 77th Street Police Station.
There was also additional coverage and remembrances in the Los Angeles Times, the LA Weekly, the Modesto Bee and others.
And although it's not entirely on point, this might be a good place to mention Daniel Olivas' latest essay about using fiction to write about hate crimes.
you forgot Democracy Now. Amy did a segment on the Watts Uprising
