In his recent TEV guest review of Home Land, Jim Ruland called Sam Lipsyte the "funniest writer of his generation," and we're quite inclined to agree. We tore through Home Land in two joyful sittings and can't remember the last time we've laughed so hard. Lipsyte's constellation of oddly sympathetic losers is rendered with a sparkling, inspired prose style that's sent us off in search of all his prior work. In Lewis Miner's (a.k.a Teabag) woeful epistolary dispatches to his high school alumni newsletter ("I did not pan out."), we find an anti-hero for the age. Highly, highly recommended.
Why is that Beckett Godot book so thick?
BTW, I envy you the third Frank Bascombe.

Isn't the cover of The Exquisite incredible?

I'm going to try a little Jedi mind shit here:
You don't need that Richard Ford galley. Richard Ford once called John Banville a pussy. You want to send me the Richard Ford galley. These are not the galleys you're looking for...

You have keen eyes, Dan. I very much liked the look of Mark's swag bag, but had no idea The Ex. was in it: nice place to be.

The hell with the Ford galley. (Well, actually, I was too lazy to get it.) I've got a pretty sweet Night Shade stash, plus an excellent new book I read on the plane called "Firmin."

Arranging that William Boyd book in such a lovely and provocative position was just cruel. Cruel, I tell you.

Full report on the swag bag, y'hear? And let Tod have that Richard Ford galley. Y'know he'll be indebted to you forever. Talk about leverage! And, the William Boyd . . . I'm envious. Just don't be ebaying any of this.:)
