The Tin House Summer Writers Workshop gets some love from the Oregonian.
Tin House doesn't oversell the wonders of Southeast Portland, but it does list the prominent writers it brings to the Reed College campus. Moore and Michael Ondaatje are the biggest names this year, and workshop leaders such as Dorothy Allison, Aimee Bender, Charles D'Ambrosio, Karen Karbo, Antonya Nelson and Anthony Swofford are exactly the kind of writers that appeal to someone interested in improving their writing in a workshop setting.
Great names, indeed. Now if you could only convince us of the value of workshops. But the value of Tin House is beyond dispute, and you'd do well to take a moment to check out their recent excellent International Issue, if you haven't done so yet. It includes contributions from Ismail Kadare, Seamus Heaney, Jose Saramago and others.
