As long as I'm talking about overlooked books, which Peter's isn't (The Second Coming was widely reviewed, including in The New York Times) check out Indecent, How I Make It And Fake It As A Girl For Hire by Sarah Katherine Lewis. Indecent is Sarah's story of ten years in the sex industry. It's an industry she still works in but not because she wants to; rather because without a college degree she can't find better paying work.
Indecent was published by Seal Press, which also published the classic Valencia, by Michelle Tea. Unfortunately, books by Seal are rarely reviewed in the larger publications. And that's too bad because Indecent is the best book I've ever read about the porn industry, and I've read my share.
Sarah also has a story in the latest issue of Air in the Paragraph Line.
