So that's it for me, folks: most of today I'm without computer as I head back to Brooklyn. Bereft of Typepad! It's been great fun filling in here at TEV, I hope you enjoy my final posts. As a side note I've gained an immense amount of respect for blogging. The amount of time, the work required. I suspect you're all entirely insane. But very nobly.
My proudest moment came when I was mocked by Edward Champion, that reluctant fellow, for my show of enthusiasm for The Hold Steady, which he found untimely. After that, I knew I had made it. Then came this kind and unexpected blog entry from someone called Rarely Likeable. Thank you for your encouragement, Rarely Likeable. I'm guessing your nom de web is inaccurate and that you're very likeable many hours of the day.
Despite Rarely Likeable's nice remarks, I feel the need to come down on myself. If I was a decent poster, I was a miserable blogger. I only posted late at night, and only once a day, whereas other bloggers keep you returning throughout the day. I didn't respond to many of your comments, which seems an important part of the blogger-commenter contract, for which I'm sorry. The answer to all questions is Yes! I admit to being frightened by the intensity of spirit my MFA post provoked, and stayed away from further advocacy. I leave you with the impression that I lack courage. Overall Grade: B-
Good show, sir. Good show. I shall name my firstborn "Ferris," informing him of this humbling and historical moment.

Have you taught undergraduates? There's terrible grade inflation, and my students consider a B- standing for "bad bad." I'd grade you A- but then I like The Hold Steady.

Since I was merely speaking the truth in that Obnoxious Blogger Way, I'm flattered. Have a good trip, and thanks for a great run. B-....bah.

You were lovely and it was a joy to visit each day. I do take some blame for the MFA intensity. I give myself at least a B. Possibly B- for scaring the guest blogger.
Cheers!
