The Surrey house in which Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote The Hound of the Baskervilles has been spared the wrecking ball.
Waverley Borough Council has taken the unusual step of sending buildings to carry out urgent repairs on Undershaw, the Grade II listed home of the Sherlock Holmes author, after an international campaign to save the building.
