Many years ago, I read Jesus's Son. So taken was I that I called Idaho information and left Mister Johnson a message declaring my important opinion of his valuable work. He called me back and wanted to know how I got his number. Really. I doubt he's listed anymore. Try it. Call him.
Denis Johnson, September.
Oh! Fantastic. 624 pages, good lord. Nice to know he hasn't been lollygagging since The Name of the World, which I thought was a stunner of a short novel, though I don't hear many people talk about it. His name is welded permanently onto Jesus's Son, despite the other great work (that tepid Escalator to Hell play notwithstanding).
Thanks for the heads-up, Katherine, and the guest-blogging, too.

New Johnson excerpt in the new New Yorker. This is apparently a sequel/prequel/whatever to Angels, his best novel.

More Denis Johnson stalking stories (not mine) if you click on my name and follow it to Swink's archives. Is there an anthology in this?

Stephan, you are in charge of Stalking Denis Johnson: An Anthology.

Katherine,
I don't think it's officially stalking until you've wrapped yourself around his knees.

Mister Michael,
I am almost horrified to tell you that given the chance I would have easiliy wrapped myself (ARMS ONLY!) around his knees. As a matter of fact, something I have realized as an adult is that at the time, the same moment I totally stalked Denis Johnson, I was rehearsing for the European premiere of his wife's play, Brilliant Traces.
That seems like a good post, actually.
