If you haven't read Elizabeth Koch's now-complete installation at Memoirville, do. A frank, introspective tour of Asia and her relationship:
Part travelogue and part convoluted love story, The World Tour Compatibility Test is a series of true stories set in exotic locales, as two American writers decide whether to break up or move in together.
Elizabeth runs Opium Magazine with Todd Zuniga.
Frank? How about smug and indulgent. All one can do when reading is feel sorry for Todd, and wonder why Elizabeth's condemnation of her own emotional immaturity sounds so much like bragging.

I found the Memoirville pieces captivating--and I'm not sure why the emotional immaturity spotlight is only shining on Elizabeth, as Todd has plenty of kinks to work out, too. Otherwise, why would he stay around?

Seriously? I found it honest and fascinating, and related so much to her feelings and fears. I can't wait to read more of her writing. I guess that makes me smug and indulgent too.

If we were all perfect people, we wouldn't have much to write (or read) about...

I loved this series. I'm a great fan of Elizabeth's sentences. And dialogue. And sense of sadness & humor. The series is beautiful and raw as it is, I think, and when revised, it's going to be an absolute masterpiece.
Oh and brave. I didn't mention how brave and confident I think the writing is.

Were you dropped as a child, Shya? What a blissfully polemic comment, Mister I-am-so-angry-with-the-world-who-has-stolen-my-dummy!?
