Featuring the writerly genius of Ann Cummins, Mark Sarvas, Mishna Wolff and maybe some surprise guests. Or maybe not. You never know.
The agenda: 6:30 pm Scintillating conversation, mood lighting, cash bar. 7:30 pm Prose stylings; briefly; aloud. 8:15ish pm Scintillating conversation, mood lighting, cash bar. Dinner optional.
The details: Tangiers Restaurant and Lounge is located at 2138 Hillhurst Avenue just south of Los Feliz Blvd. Valet parking $5. For dinner reservations call 323 666 8666.
The occasion: A dazzling new issue of Swink’s online edition will be available on Friday July 27. Feel the shock and awe at www.swinkmag.com/online.html,
The talent: Ann Cummins is the author of the story collection Red Ant House and the novel Yellowcake. Her work has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, McSweeney’s, The Barcelona Review, and The Best American Short Stories.
Mark Sarvas is the proprietor of acclaimed literary blog The Elegant Variation, His first novel, Harry, Revised, will be published by Bloomsbury in 2008.
Mishna Wolff is a stand-up comedian and writer. Her memoir I’m Down will be published by St. Martin’s Press in 2008.
Seems a discrepancy in possessive pronouns. Author of "Harry Revised" is referred to as we and our, yet the event's host mentions only one author, Mark Sarvas. Surely some mistake?

We don't see the problem.

Swink's back? I remember a couple of high quality issues quite some time ago, and then all seemed to go silent; I'd assumed that it closed shop. What's the story now? Swink's been revived?

They had some struggles getting issue number 3 to press but it came out a few months ago. They're definitely still around and I'm told it won't be so long between issues now; and that the online presence will be fairly current, updated regularly.
