I was hoping to have better news to report, but Maud Newton's site has been hacked and vandalized. I thought her service provider would be able to provide a full restore but, for the moment at least, things aren't looking very good. Needless to say, even if Maud were not a close friend, I'd be speechless and livid at such senseless garbage. However, in addition to our friendship, I consider her the very best of the book bloggers, and I know many of you share my feelings and hope to see her up and running again soon.
UPDATE: She's back online.
How awful, could she at least retrieve her old posts from Google cache? Or the Wayback Machine?

I'm stunned. I didn't even realize that this could happen and, as soon as I read her post, I changed my password.
I hope there's some remedy available to her.

Wow, that is scary. I didn't realize it could happen either. You'd think the posts would be available somewhere in cyberspace.

Well, looks like she's back in the game with a few of the more recent posts missing. So this is good to hear. Moral of the story: backup your MySQL databases every week or so if you're running WordPress.
