Is it unnerving when you come to read Mark Sarvas and then, suddenly, there's Katherine Taylor?
Thank you all for welcoming me the second year in a row. Thank you, of course, primarily to Mark for welcoming me the second year in a row. Quite brilliantly, my publishers tend to release my books around BEA, when Mark is weak and vulnerable and and over-run with commitments, and it's relatively easy to convince him to relinquish control of his blog for a few days. Appropriating Mark's blog once in a while is my favorite pastime ever, as it means I don't have to start my own.
(Actually, I noticed that Mark called my book Rules of Saying Goodbye. Mark! It's Rules for Saying Goodbye. A little preposition goes a long way.)
Tuesday my paperback was released. But do you know what else was released on Tuesday? Janelle Brown's beautiful debut novel, All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. Janelle writes about family and money and social anxiety similarly to the way Franzen writes, or Fitzgerald.
We had a paperback release party for Rules tonight (Janelle was there -- hi, Janelle!) and I am tired and exhausted and releasing a paperback is far more taxing than I had anticipated.
Please stay tuned throughout the rest of the day. I have some things to tell you.
