Look at what this amazing country did. No words today.
Tomorrow, a much-needed return to literary matters.

In his recent TEV guest review of Home Land, Jim Ruland called Sam Lipsyte the "funniest writer of his generation," and we're quite inclined to agree. We tore through Home Land in two joyful sittings and can't remember the last time we've laughed so hard. Lipsyte's constellation of oddly sympathetic losers is rendered with a sparkling, inspired prose style that's sent us off in search of all his prior work. In Lewis Miner's (a.k.a Teabag) woeful epistolary dispatches to his high school alumni newsletter ("I did not pan out."), we find an anti-hero for the age. Highly, highly recommended.
YES WE DID! (except maybe that hateful proposition in California)

Mark,
I have enormous respect for your generosity of spirit, even though I am on the opposite side of the political fence. I praise you on my Commonplace Blog at dgmyers.blogspot.com.
Congratulations to President-elect Obama and to all of his supporters. May God give him the strength and wisdom to lead--to elevate--this great country!
And you, Mark: keep up the distinguished work!

I have a friend who became a citizen last year. She told me that she did not feel anything special when she gave the oath of allegiance. But she did feel something quite special when Obama gave his President-elect speech last night.
